Music Zone: Top 10 Videoke Songs

One of the attractions of bars and restaurants nowadays are videoke machines. They allow people to sing their favorite songs with lyrics for just five pesos. I must admit, I'm a videoke fanatic. I enjoy staying in places where there is a videoke machine whether be a drinking session or just eating out with friends. With this machine, people can express what they feel through the songs they enter. There are people who amazes other people with their high notes and beautiful voices. If there are two microphones, two people can perform a duet (that is, of the place can afford to have two mics). I even experience having a showdown with other singers and it was exciting because you have the motivation to outperform them and pick the best songs that you can sing. I just noticed though, there are songs that are being sang over and over again, as if it was sung for the first time. Most of these songs may either be a classic, ballad or just to have fun. So today on Music Zone, I will present the Top 10 Videoke Songs that are being murdered in bars and restaurants:

10. Carrie - released in 1987 by the group Europe. This is usually sang by old men who are already drunk.

9. I Will Survive - is the first song performed by Gloria Gaynor in 1978. The message of this song is about moving on. The rhythm of this song makes videoke lovers go gaga over it.

8. Dancing Queen - originally performed by the group Abba in 1976. Many artists also made a cover of the song like A-Teens in 2000, the Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez, and recently, the Glee Cast in episode Prom Queen of Glee Season 2.

7. Just Once - James Ingram sang this song in 1981. Jaya had her own cover of the song in 2007. I still remember I used to sing this song when I was younger (just sharing...).

6. Total Eclipse Of The Heart - a song from Bonnie Tyler in 1983 and her biggest hit. This song

5. Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now - originally performed by Starship in 1987. In videoke bars, this is usually sung by two persons, unless one person can sing the male and female parts. MYMP also covered this song.

4. Alone - a Heart's original in 1983 which was covered by Celine Dion in 2008.

3. Build Me Up Buttercup - released in 1968 by The Foundation. I must say that most of the groups set this as their last song and just party all the way.

2. Crazy For You - one of Madonna's hit in 1985. I always here this song in all of my videoke sessions. This is also one of the most requested songs for bands.

1. My Way - this song was popularized by Frank Sinatra. There is a bad connotation about this song, that whoever sings it dies after. Well, I don't believe it but just to be on the safe side, I don't sing it as well... hahaha!!! =)

So, is your favorite videoke song on the list??? This list is ranked based on my observation when I sing in videoke bars.

Attack Of The Gleeks: Song Of The Week: Don't Stop Believin'

From season 1 of Glee, they already amazed me with how they do cover songs from different artists. For today's Attack Of The Gleeks segment, our featured song is "Don't Stop Believin'".

The song was originally performed by the band Journey and it was released in 1981. Journey's version ranked number 9 in the Billboard 100. The Glee Cast did their own cover for their show and when it was released, it ranked number 4 in the Billboard 100. From then on, it was one of the carrier songs of Glee on its commercials and publicities. They even included this song as part of their performance in the last episode of Glee Season 2 entitled "The Journey To Regionals".

Here is the video the first time they performed it:

This song can be an inspiration to all, so in everything we do, DON'T STOP BELIEVING!!! =)

Music Zone: The Power Of Madonna

Yesterday in our shift while it is still avail time, my friend played songs in her mobile phone from Madonna. I got carried away so we sing along with her hits. because of that, today on Music Zone, I'm going to feature the Queen Of Pop... Madonna.

Singer, Dancer, Performer, Legend, Icon, Material Girl and Influential. Those are some of the descriptions given to her. Her career started in 1982, until most of her songs topped Billboard 100, eventually she was hailed as Queen Of Pop . One of her noted concert acts was when she wore a cone bra and performed Like A Virgin. She is one artist who can reinvent herself to cater to different types of listeners.

The U.S. TV hit show Glee also featured some of her songs in episode 15 of its first season as a tribute to her contribution to the music industry.

MY TOP FIVE MADONNA SONGS:

5. CRAZY FOR YOU (1985)

4. PAPA DON'T PREACH (1986)

3. MATERIAL GIRL (1985)

2. VOGUE (1990)

1. LIKE A PRAYER (1990)

Indeed, she has countless hits and it she still, no one compares to her.

Francine's Fire Soul: MissG's Elite Style Of Eating Shanghai: Revisited

MissG is one of my friends whom I met in TeleTech Bacoor. His real name is Giovanni Miniano. He is really funny and able to crack jokes whenever and wherever. But this blog is not just about him, yes a part of him maybe.

While scanning my photos and videos in Facebook, I noticed this video I posted a year ago when we were still together in training in 24/7. The video was shot in Dencio's in Makati. Together with us were Ned Juan, Jhaecii Fajardo and Glen Batinga. I was the one who shot the video while the others are giving instructions to him until suddenly, he took in a whole shanghai roll. Here is the video:

This is really funny and everytime I see this video, I can't help but laugh out loud!!!

Music Zone: Goodbye Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse is now the top trending topic in Twitter. Not because she has a new song or concert, but because she already died. It was reported that the cause of her death is suspected drug overdose. She died last July 23, 2011. Her most noted song for me was Back To Black which she released in 2006. This song was also covered by Glee in their season 2 series. Here is the video:

Goodbye Amy and thank you for your music... =|

Couch Potato Madness: The End Of Harry Potter Saga: A Review

Just got home from watching Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2. I watched it together with my workmate Karen Dar Juan. Imagine, it was expensive because I watched it in Glorietta. I travelled from Cavite all the way to Makati just to watch this. Good thing, the movie never failed me.

PLUS POINTS OF THE MOVIE:

- The special effects were great. it seems that the production staff really put their best foot forward for this film.
- There are funny scenes and reactions from the cast which made all of us inside the cinema laughed.
- The revelation of the past events was executed in a good way.
- The magic spells are awesome!
- Harry's body is so hot, hot, hot!
- The son of Harry Potter was good looking.

DELTA POINTS OF THE MOVIE:

- There is only one, I just noticed that Harry's scar is at the left side of his forehead, however, the scar on  baby Harry's forehead is located at the right portion. This is kinda misleading.

Over-all, I give this movie 5 stars still because of the special effects and the humor it brought to its audience.

I'm just thinking, now that Harry Potter Saga has ended, what will happen to Daniel Radcliffe? Will he be stuck in the persona of Harry Potter forever or will he be accepting another role to introduce another fictional character? Will the Harry Potter craze ends after this? Anyways, one thing for sure, Harry Potter will live forever and will always be remembered. Thanks Daniel Radcliffe for bringing Hogwarts and the world of wizardry in our hearts for a decade. Kudos, great job for portraying Harry Potter!

Music Zone: New Youtube Star: Marcelito Pomoy

He is the talk of the town nowadays. Almost everywhere, I always hear people talk about him and his talent. We first saw him in Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2. A man who sang a female song and eventually became the winner of the said contest. I'm talking about Marcelito Pomoy.

Marcelito Pomoy resides in Imus, Cavite who tried his luck with Pilipinas Got Talent in its second season. His audition piece was "Narito Ako" originally performed by Regine Velasquez. The judges and the crowd at the audition site were all amazed with Marcelito's voice range. That video made several hits and currently, it has 2, 230, 931 hits in Youtube to date. Here is the video:

In the Grand Finals, he sang and used both male and female voices for the song "The Prayer" by Celine Dion and Andrea Boccelli. At the end of the show, he was hailed champion. Here is his performance:

Last Sunday in ASAP Rocks, Marcelito performed together with the other singing champs like Angeline Quinto, Jovit Baldovino and Yeng Constantino. He amazed not only the audience but including me when he sang "What Kind Of Fool I Am" by Regine Velasquez. It really sounded how the Asia's Songbird delivered it. Here is the video:

Congratulations Marcelito Pomoy! Thank you for bringing glory to our province in Cavite!

Francine's Fire Soul: My 100TH Tweet

I started using Twitter just last month out for curiosity. I have other Tweeter accounts using different email addresses and usernames but I decided to use the username its_me_francine and entered the Tweetverse. The first tweets I had were quotes, eventually, I find myself following celebrities, groups and even friends. I still remember, the first person who became my follower is _eychan17_ which is one of my classmates way back in high school. Currently, I have 112 tweets to date, 40 accounts following and 16 followers.

Imagine, just by tweeting when I have time, I never expected that I would reached my 100th tweet addressed to @NicoleHyala. I was listening to Tambalan segment on the radio when I tweet this as a response to the topic that they were discussing yesterday. Below is the screenshot.

I'm starting to love Twitter and the Tweetverse. Follow me with my username its_me_francine and let's share tweets.

Childhood Nostalgia: Modern Sherlock Holmes: Detective Conan

Today, GMA 7 brought back Detective Conan in its morning block so I decided to feature it in Childhood Nostalgia. It is one of the anime shows that amazes me until now. It is because, here a man turned child is able to resolve impossible cases.

This is the story of Jimmy Kudo, also known as Shinichi Kudo. He is an intelligent high school detective who turned into a a seven year old child after he was forced to take a drug by a member of a mysterious secret crime organization. Because he wants to know these people, he changed his name to Conan Edogawa. From then on, he continued to resolve cases in his own way. He was given gadgets b his friend, Dr. Hershel Agasa. Everytime he is going to squill out the criminal, he would always someone mostly, Mr. Kogoro Mori and he turns him into a sleeping detective to tell the story of what really happened.

For this show, I must say that the reason I got hooked up is because I really like mystery shows. It also teaches the value of friendship and critical thinking.

Francine's Fire Soul: WHAT AND IF'S

How would we know if your feelings towards another person is real? How can we say that our feelings is on the next level? These are the questions that run in my mind and my heart as of the moment.

At this point, I'm not sure if I'm just attracted, infatuated or really in love with this person. I've known this guy for quite a while and I must say, eventhough he is not chinito which is my weakness, his eyes are charming and everytime he looks at me, its like a magnet and it seems that he wants to say something. We each other because of a common friend, his bestfriend (I'd rather not name her...). He always tell me... "Ngayon lang ulit ako tumawa ng ganito dahil sa'yo..." when I crack jokes. I just reply "Clown ba ako???". He would always laugh at my jokes. Yet this person is a bit insensitive or he is just a silent type of person, I think. His answers are always on the safe side everytime I ask him questions. Sometimes, I would think of slapping him in his face to give me straight answers.

I would admit I'm happy everytime I see him. I'm happy when he laughs at my jokes. As much as possible, I don't want to expect because I don't want to get hurt if I admit my feelings to him. I don't want to have assumptions again just like the previous guy that I liked. However, there are additional questions that needs to be address. "What if I take the risk of telling him what I feel?", "What if he can reciprocate my feelings?", "What if our friendship breaks?", "What if I loose another friend?". Yeah, "WHAT" and "IF"... two simple words but too complicated to answer.

Couch Potato Madness: Tranformers: Dark Of The Moon: A Review

I know it's a bit late for this review, I'm just busy with other things.

The Autobots and the Decepticons came back to the movie scene with the third sequel of Transformers series with Dark Of The Moon.

This movie, I must say includes almost everything, drama, comedy, suspense, history, and most of all... ACTION! I loved all the scenes, especially the robots that were featured. The scenes are breath-taking. It seems real as you watch it. The performances of the main casts Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley were awesome as well. I'm just thinking that now that Megatron was killed, if there will be another installment for this movie.

For this movie, I would rate it Five Stars. There is no dull moment in this movie. It exceeded my expectations and gave a wow factor to its viewers!
