In Season 1 Episode 2 of Glee (Showmance), there is one song that I love to hear over and over again. This is the song "I Say A Little Prayer" performed by Quinn, Santana and Brittany. The original version was from Dionne Warwick and was released in October 1967.
They used the song when they auditioned for the Glee Club. Because they were cheerleaders and they have the moves, Will allowed them to be part of the the group. The blending of the voices were great. It really sounded pleasant to the ears. Maybe those are the reasons why I love to listen to their version. Here is the video and the lyrics:
From season 1 of Glee, they already amazed me with how they do cover songs from different artists. For today's Attack Of The Gleeks segment, our featured song is "Don't Stop Believin'".
The song was originally performed by the band Journey and it was released in 1981. Journey's version ranked number 9 in the Billboard 100. The Glee Cast did their own cover for their show and when it was released, it ranked number 4 in the Billboard 100. From then on, it was one of the carrier songs of Glee on its commercials and publicities. They even included this song as part of their performance in the last episode of Glee Season 2 entitled "The Journey To Regionals".
Here is the video the first time they performed it:
This song can be an inspiration to all, so in everything we do, DON'T STOP BELIEVING!!! =)
I know it's weeks since I haven't posted anything about Glee. Let's get back to business. So here it is, our Glee character of the week is Brittany Pierce.
The role is being played by Heather Morris. She was introduced as a ember of the Cherrios, a noted cheerleading squad in McKinley under the supervision of Sue Sylvester. She has recurring role during firstb season but in season 2, she was promoted as a regular cast.
She is good at dancing but most of the time, her lines are nonesense. Her first appearance was in season 1 episode 2 "Showmance" when she perform "I Say A Little Prayer" together with Quinn and Santana, but it was in season 2 episode 2 "Britney/Brittany" where she made her debut performance with the song "I'm A Slave 4 U" from Britney Spears. She led the performance of New Directions in the song "Tik-Tock" by Ke$ha where she threw-up because of alcohol.
In season 2, she became romantically involved with Artie, also one of the Glee club members but it was revealed in episode 15 "Sexy" that she is being admired and loved by Santana.
She is really great at dancing and that is her strength. I really want to see more of Brittany in the upcoming seasons.
While I'm cleaning my room a while ago, I saw an old album of Whitney Houston entitled "My Love Is Your Love", a CD I bought when it was launched in 1998. Most of the songs are upbeat. So I thought of featuring Whitney Houston and her greatest hits in today's Music Zone.
Whitney Houston is one name that everybody considers as a DIVA together the likes of Mariah Carey, Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion. Her forte is RnB and Pop. She is hailed as the most awarded female artist of all time according to Guiness World Records. She is a mezzo-soprano singer and when I listen to her songs, I'm really amazed by her vocal range. Her songs are always used for singing competitions. She was also noted for her movie "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner.
My Top Five Whitney Houston Songs
5. One Moment In Time (1988) - is an Emmy Award winning song written by Albert Hammond and John Bettis, and recorded by American singer Whitney Houston for the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 1988 Summer Paralympics held in Seoul, South Korea.
4. I Will Always Love You (1992) - Whitney recorded this song for the movie "The Bodyguard" where is she the leading star paired up with Kevin Costner.
3. Miracle (1991) - is the third single from Whitney Houston's multi-platinum third album, I'm Your Baby Tonight. It was written and produced by L.A. Reid and Babyface.
2. Run To You (1993) - is a song performed by Whitney Houston and is the fourth single released from The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album.
1. Saving All My Love For You (1985) - is the second hit single from Whitney Houston's self-titled debut album. This jazzy ballad is about a love affair with a married man, and the singer is "saving all her love for him".
Whitney's songs will live forever and will always be cherished, that's for sure.
This week, let's get to know more about Noah Puckerman, our Glee Club Character Of The Week. The role is being played by Mark Salling. He is better known as "Puck" and prior to joining New Directions, he was one of the guys who throw people in dumpsters and throws slushie at anyone. Aside from New Directions, he is also affiliated with the football team.
Puck had relationships with his co-New Directions, Rachel, Santana, Brittany, and Quinn. Puck and Quinn had a child and was adopted by Shelby Corcoran. Currently, he has an affair with Lauren Zizes in the series, and it really shows that he really has fallen for her.
He has a lot of performance in the series but for me, his best was "Sweet Caroline". Here is a video of the song:
Hope to see more great performances from Puck this Season and in the coming series.
For episode 18 of Glee Season 2, out of the six songs that was shown, I've chosen the song "Born This Way" performed by the New Directions less Santana Lopez. The song was originally from Lady Gaga. This is the last song for the episode as tribute to the pop diva and it talks about acceptance of what you are, that we should not change anything about ourselves because we want to become someone else just like anybody else.
Each member of the glee club has their own T-shirt with their identities and here is the list:
Artie – “Four Eyes”
Brittany – “I’m With Stoopid” (Arrow up)
Finn – “Can’t Dance”
Kurt – “Likes Boys”
Lauren – “Bad Attitude”
Mercedes – “No Weave!”
Mike – “Can’t Sing”
Puck – “I’m With Stupid” (Arrow down)
Quinn – “Lucy Caboosey”
Sam – “Trouty Mouth”
Santana – “Bitch” “Lebanese”
Tina – “Brown Eyes”
Emma – “Ginger” “OCD” (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
Rachel - “Nose”
Will – “Butt Chin”
Here is the video and the lyrics:

Our Glee character of the week is Will Schuester. The role is being portrayed by Matthew Morrison. He is the Spanish teacher who accepted the additional task as the director of New Directions. He is often seen wearing a vest in all episodes.
He is always there to defend the members of the New Directions glee club from their arch-nemesis, Sue Sylvester. He is also the former husband of Terri Schuester (Jessalyn Gilsig). He also had a romantic affair with Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays), the guidance counselor of McKinley Hill High. In season 2, he starts relationship with Holly Holiday played by Gwyneth Paltrow.
He also did a lot of performance on the show, may it be solo or with the group. But for me, his best performance was in season 2 episode 8: Furt. when he sang "Sway".
It's a good thing he is always there to guide our beloved glee club members! Cheers to you Will!!!
Episode 17: A Night Of Neglect is really anticipated by Glee viewers. It's not because it's their comeback episode for Season 2 but because of Charice. Charice portays the role of Sunshine Corazon, an exchange student from the Philippines. She already showed her vocal prowess in episode 1 of season 2 where she sang "Listen" by Beyonce Knowles from the movie "Dreamgirls". For this episode, she sang the best song for neglect which is "All By Myself". I really expect that she would hit the high notes at the later part of the song which makes the scene a little less thrilling. But nonetheless, it's Sunshine and her voice, we can't deny the fact that her version was good. I'm sure if Celine Dion was able to watch her performance, she would definitely say that Sunshine gave justice to the song. Here is the video and lyrics:
Sue Sylvester is our Glee character for this week. The role is being played by Jane Lynch. She is the head coach of the "Cheerios", the cheerleading group of McKinley High. She is also the arch-nemesis of the glee club. She will do everything just to win.
She had tried to destroy the Glee club many times but she was unsuccessful. She allowed Quinn, Brittany and Santana to join glee club to destroy the group but the three girls eventually loved the group. She also made stories between Mercedes and Rachel about the "DIVA" thing that caused them to have a diva showdown but in the end both just enjoyed their performance.
For me, her most noted performance was "Vogue" by Madonna. She sang this together with Kurt and Mercedes in the episode, "The Power Of Madonna" in season 1.
She also had a performance with the entire New Directions with the song "Sing" in Season 2 episode 13: "Comeback".
I'm not sure what else or how worse Sue can do to the glee club members. I hope that she can be kind in the future.
Mike Chang is our Glee character for this week. The role is being played by Harry Shum, Jr. Let's get to know him better.
He made his first appearance in episode 4: Preggers of Glee Season 1. His first performance was with Kurt, Tina, Brittany and the McKinley High Football Team of the song "Single ladies" by Beyonce Knowles.
He is a dancer and a football player. He is better known as the Asian with abs. He served as a backup for the team at first but eventually he was able to have performances of his own or with a partner. His noted performance was "Sing" with Tina Cohen.
He may be not into singing, but he is really great when it comes to dancing. This is one of the factors why they won the Sectionals in Glee Season 2. In their performance "Valerie", he is the partner of Brittany took the lead dance.
He also gained a girlfriend by joining New Directions and she is Tina Cohen. So far their relationship is in good shape. The two looks good together, two Asians... Hahaha!!! =)
I'm still looking forward for more amazing performances from Mike, may it be dance or song performance!!! =)
Our Glee character for this week is Sam Evans. His role is being portrayed by Chord Overstreet. Sam's first appearance was in Episode 1: Audition of Glee Season 2. He is a transfer student who joined the football team. He was recruited by Finn and his first vocal performance together with the New Directions boys was "Billionaire" by Travie Mccoy.
In Season 2 episode 4: Duets, he paired up with Quinn to cover the song "Lucky" by Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz where they won over the other duets. Eventually they fell in love after that performance.
Because their pair won in that episode, they were chosen to pilot the New Directions' performance in the Sectionals with "The Time Of My Life".
So far, his best solo performance for me was when he did the cover song for "Baby" by Justin Bieber. he was able to imbibe the young heartthrob because of his hair color and his dance moves.
I'm so excited on what Sam can still show in the next episodes of Glee.
The New Directions this week goes original, as in original songs. Although, the show still featured cover songs but the highlight is on the songs that are fresh and new.
Episode highlight 1: Kurt confesses to Blaine of his jealousy that the Warblers always choose Blaine to be their front act performer. Blaine was moved by his statement and so he raised to the council that for Regionals, he must perform with Kurt and the entire council agreed to him. In their practice, Blaine finally reciprocates his feelings for Kurt with a kiss. There was a cut in the scene, good thing, there is the full video in Youtube.
Episode highlight 2: Because Quinn is scared that Finn and Rachel would be together again, she befriended Rachel and supported her idea of original songs. They had a confrontation because of Finn, leading Rachel to write her song alone.
Episode highlight 3: Its the Regionals, and there are three glee clubs competing for the title "First Place". Aural Intensity started the performance. The second group to perform were the Warblers, and lastly the New Directions. The New Directions won the competition (Thanks to Sue Sylvester, they were able to come up with a great original song). Her are their performances:
In this episode, there were a total of eleven songs played, five of them are cover songs and the rest are all original. The cover songs were "Misery" (Maroon 5) , "Blackbird" (The Beatles), "Candles" (Hey Monday), "Raise Your Glass" (Pink). The first four songs are all from Dalton Academy Warblers. Aural Intensity performed the song "Jesus Is My Friend" (Sonseed). The original songs were "Only Child" by Rachel, "TroutyMouth" by Santana and Tina, "Big Ass... Heart" by Puck, "Hell To The No" by Mercedes, "Get It Right" by Rachel, and lastly, "Losers Like Me" by the New Directions.
I like this episode because there are a lot of songs and the best is that the New Directions won the competition. Winning the Regionals mean they are now heading Nationals... Go New Directions!!! =)
If there is one OPM artist who can make duet songs successful, that would be no other than the Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez. She has a numerous duet songs and this is with every well known OPM artists in the country. She also collaborated songs with international artists and those songs climb the OPM charts. May it be with a male or female she can make a good collaboration. Here are my ten Best Duet Songs with Regine Velasquez:
10. In Love With You (with Jacky Cheung)
9. Sa Piling Mo (with Ogie Alcasid)
8. Bakit Ba Iniibig Ka (with Erik Santos)
7. Paano Kita Iibigin (with Piolo Pascual)
6. Points Of View (with Jaya)
5. Magkasuyo Buong Gabi (with Janno Gibbs)
4. Forever (with Martin Nievera)
3. Muli (with Gary Valenciano)
2. Hanggang Ngayon (with Ogie Alcasid)
1. Please Be Careful With My Heart (with Jose Mari Chan)
This week, we have Lauren Zizes as our Glee character. Her role is being played by Ashley Fink and has appeared in Glee since its first season episode titled "Wheels", first broadcast on November 11, 2009. Lauren is is the McKinley High AV club president and a state champion in Greco-Roman wrestling. She has an acerbic personality and is admired by Puck for being "a bigger bad-ass" than he is. She has a love of candy, specifically Cadbury Creme Eggs.
Lauren joined the glee club in the second season in episode 9 entitled "Special Education". With her addition, the glee club was able to meet the quota for sectionals.
Lauren's first solo performance was in episode 13: Comeback, where she sang "I Know What Boys Like" where she pictured all the people in the choir room almost naked.
She is one of the characters I like in the series that makes me laugh with her every appearance.
This blog site will feature everything from the U.S. TV Hit series "Glee". Get to know the characters, watch their performances, may it be solo or group and medleys as well. I will also feature reviews for each episode every week. Comments will be highly appreciated. Enjoy!!! =)
One of the shows that makes me glued in front of our television is the U.S. hit T.V. Series Glee. When I first heard of the title, I became curious because it's one of my interest which is singing. After watching one episode, I can't help it but to wait from one episode to another.
This is the story of students of McKinley High who has one thing in common... SINGING!!! The show showcases musical productions and collaborations. I love their cover songs, renditions and group performances. At first, the performances are being led by Finn (Corey Monteith) and Rachel (Lea Michele) but eventually the other cast members were given their own piece to perform.
Here are the noted performances of the group:
When Season 2 was aired already, latest addition appeared to the cast, Chord Overstreet who plays Sam Evans and Philippine's pride Charice Pempengco playing the role of Sunshine Corazon. The scene of Sunshine and Rachel on their cover "Telephone" created a thread in different blogs and social networking sites, the scene also had parodies. Here are their first performances:
Of course, New Directions has competitors and that is the Warblers with their lead vocals Darren Criss who's role is Blaine, somewhat close to Kurt when he transferred schools. His first performance on Glee was Teenage Dream.
Glee also guested celebrities like Britney Spears in episode 2 and Gwyneth Palthrow in episode 7. Spears just had a cameo role when Santana and Brittany are performing "Me Against The Music". Palthrow was a substitute teacher who supervised the team when Will was not around.
I really love their group performance for "The Time Of My Life" which was shown in the Sectionals battle for glee club.
With Glee, I'm sure there's a lot more to come... more songs and great performances!!! =)
