Music Zone: Top 10 Videoke Songs

One of the attractions of bars and restaurants nowadays are videoke machines. They allow people to sing their favorite songs with lyrics for just five pesos. I must admit, I'm a videoke fanatic. I enjoy staying in places where there is a videoke machine whether be a drinking session or just eating out with friends. With this machine, people can express what they feel through the songs they enter. There are people who amazes other people with their high notes and beautiful voices. If there are two microphones, two people can perform a duet (that is, of the place can afford to have two mics). I even experience having a showdown with other singers and it was exciting because you have the motivation to outperform them and pick the best songs that you can sing. I just noticed though, there are songs that are being sang over and over again, as if it was sung for the first time. Most of these songs may either be a classic, ballad or just to have fun. So today on Music Zone, I will present the Top 10 Videoke Songs that are being murdered in bars and restaurants:

10. Carrie - released in 1987 by the group Europe. This is usually sang by old men who are already drunk.

9. I Will Survive - is the first song performed by Gloria Gaynor in 1978. The message of this song is about moving on. The rhythm of this song makes videoke lovers go gaga over it.

8. Dancing Queen - originally performed by the group Abba in 1976. Many artists also made a cover of the song like A-Teens in 2000, the Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez, and recently, the Glee Cast in episode Prom Queen of Glee Season 2.

7. Just Once - James Ingram sang this song in 1981. Jaya had her own cover of the song in 2007. I still remember I used to sing this song when I was younger (just sharing...).

6. Total Eclipse Of The Heart - a song from Bonnie Tyler in 1983 and her biggest hit. This song

5. Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now - originally performed by Starship in 1987. In videoke bars, this is usually sung by two persons, unless one person can sing the male and female parts. MYMP also covered this song.

4. Alone - a Heart's original in 1983 which was covered by Celine Dion in 2008.

3. Build Me Up Buttercup - released in 1968 by The Foundation. I must say that most of the groups set this as their last song and just party all the way.

2. Crazy For You - one of Madonna's hit in 1985. I always here this song in all of my videoke sessions. This is also one of the most requested songs for bands.

1. My Way - this song was popularized by Frank Sinatra. There is a bad connotation about this song, that whoever sings it dies after. Well, I don't believe it but just to be on the safe side, I don't sing it as well... hahaha!!! =)

So, is your favorite videoke song on the list??? This list is ranked based on my observation when I sing in videoke bars.

Attack Of The Gleeks: Song Of The Week: Don't Stop Believin'

From season 1 of Glee, they already amazed me with how they do cover songs from different artists. For today's Attack Of The Gleeks segment, our featured song is "Don't Stop Believin'".

The song was originally performed by the band Journey and it was released in 1981. Journey's version ranked number 9 in the Billboard 100. The Glee Cast did their own cover for their show and when it was released, it ranked number 4 in the Billboard 100. From then on, it was one of the carrier songs of Glee on its commercials and publicities. They even included this song as part of their performance in the last episode of Glee Season 2 entitled "The Journey To Regionals".

Here is the video the first time they performed it:

This song can be an inspiration to all, so in everything we do, DON'T STOP BELIEVING!!! =)

Music Zone: The Power Of Madonna

Yesterday in our shift while it is still avail time, my friend played songs in her mobile phone from Madonna. I got carried away so we sing along with her hits. because of that, today on Music Zone, I'm going to feature the Queen Of Pop... Madonna.

Singer, Dancer, Performer, Legend, Icon, Material Girl and Influential. Those are some of the descriptions given to her. Her career started in 1982, until most of her songs topped Billboard 100, eventually she was hailed as Queen Of Pop . One of her noted concert acts was when she wore a cone bra and performed Like A Virgin. She is one artist who can reinvent herself to cater to different types of listeners.

The U.S. TV hit show Glee also featured some of her songs in episode 15 of its first season as a tribute to her contribution to the music industry.

MY TOP FIVE MADONNA SONGS:

5. CRAZY FOR YOU (1985)

4. PAPA DON'T PREACH (1986)

3. MATERIAL GIRL (1985)

2. VOGUE (1990)

1. LIKE A PRAYER (1990)

Indeed, she has countless hits and it she still, no one compares to her.

Francine's Fire Soul: MissG's Elite Style Of Eating Shanghai: Revisited

MissG is one of my friends whom I met in TeleTech Bacoor. His real name is Giovanni Miniano. He is really funny and able to crack jokes whenever and wherever. But this blog is not just about him, yes a part of him maybe.

While scanning my photos and videos in Facebook, I noticed this video I posted a year ago when we were still together in training in 24/7. The video was shot in Dencio's in Makati. Together with us were Ned Juan, Jhaecii Fajardo and Glen Batinga. I was the one who shot the video while the others are giving instructions to him until suddenly, he took in a whole shanghai roll. Here is the video:

This is really funny and everytime I see this video, I can't help but laugh out loud!!!

Music Zone: Goodbye Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse is now the top trending topic in Twitter. Not because she has a new song or concert, but because she already died. It was reported that the cause of her death is suspected drug overdose. She died last July 23, 2011. Her most noted song for me was Back To Black which she released in 2006. This song was also covered by Glee in their season 2 series. Here is the video:

Goodbye Amy and thank you for your music... =|

Couch Potato Madness: The End Of Harry Potter Saga: A Review

Just got home from watching Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2. I watched it together with my workmate Karen Dar Juan. Imagine, it was expensive because I watched it in Glorietta. I travelled from Cavite all the way to Makati just to watch this. Good thing, the movie never failed me.

PLUS POINTS OF THE MOVIE:

- The special effects were great. it seems that the production staff really put their best foot forward for this film.
- There are funny scenes and reactions from the cast which made all of us inside the cinema laughed.
- The revelation of the past events was executed in a good way.
- The magic spells are awesome!
- Harry's body is so hot, hot, hot!
- The son of Harry Potter was good looking.

DELTA POINTS OF THE MOVIE:

- There is only one, I just noticed that Harry's scar is at the left side of his forehead, however, the scar on  baby Harry's forehead is located at the right portion. This is kinda misleading.

Over-all, I give this movie 5 stars still because of the special effects and the humor it brought to its audience.

I'm just thinking, now that Harry Potter Saga has ended, what will happen to Daniel Radcliffe? Will he be stuck in the persona of Harry Potter forever or will he be accepting another role to introduce another fictional character? Will the Harry Potter craze ends after this? Anyways, one thing for sure, Harry Potter will live forever and will always be remembered. Thanks Daniel Radcliffe for bringing Hogwarts and the world of wizardry in our hearts for a decade. Kudos, great job for portraying Harry Potter!
