We know that they are the reason why we exist in this world. Our stronghold when we are weak. The provider of our needs. The one who discipline us when we commit mistakes. The one that teaches us about life experience. We may call him in different names such as "Daddy", "Dad" "Pa", "Papa", "Itay", "Tay", "Baba", "Fù Qīn" (Chinese), "Vati" (german), "Chichi" (japanese)... it all boils down to one name... FATHER.
On this special day, Music Zone presents my top five songs for our fathers.
Yesterday, since it was my vacation leave from work, I decided to watch Green Lantern at SM Dasmariñas. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
This is the story of Hal Jordan who was chosen by the ring first worn by Abin Sur, a member of the Guardians Of The Universe who died after escaping from Parallax, the main antagonist of the film. The theme of the movie is conquering one's fear. It was stated that the ring becomes stronger if the person wearing it has a strong will.
I was a bit fascinated with the trailer when I first saw the entire movie, I realized that it was just like the other movies I've seen recently, it did not exceed my expectations. The first part was boring and honestly, I almost feel asleep. Although, there are funny moments that is not enough to suffice what I've been looking for in a film. I just regained the interest to continue watching it in the middle part. Over-all, if I would rate the film just like the others, I would give it 3 stars because there is no wow factor.
I know it's weeks since I haven't posted anything about Glee. Let's get back to business. So here it is, our Glee character of the week is Brittany Pierce.
The role is being played by Heather Morris. She was introduced as a ember of the Cherrios, a noted cheerleading squad in McKinley under the supervision of Sue Sylvester. She has recurring role during firstb season but in season 2, she was promoted as a regular cast.
She is good at dancing but most of the time, her lines are nonesense. Her first appearance was in season 1 episode 2 "Showmance" when she perform "I Say A Little Prayer" together with Quinn and Santana, but it was in season 2 episode 2 "Britney/Brittany" where she made her debut performance with the song "I'm A Slave 4 U" from Britney Spears. She led the performance of New Directions in the song "Tik-Tock" by Ke$ha where she threw-up because of alcohol.
In season 2, she became romantically involved with Artie, also one of the Glee club members but it was revealed in episode 15 "Sexy" that she is being admired and loved by Santana.
She is really great at dancing and that is her strength. I really want to see more of Brittany in the upcoming seasons.
When I logged in to Facebook today, the first status message I saw that caught my attention was a video post of my friend Thomas Ynan showcasing the performance of Angeline Quinto of the song I'll Never Say Goodbye. I'm hearing a lot of good feedback with this girl, so she is our featured OPM artist for today.
Angeline Quinto is the grand winner of Star Power: The Search For the Next Female Popstar in ABS-CBN hosted by Sharon Cuneta. She is from Sampaloc, Manila. The first time I saw her perform was in ASAP Rocks last Sunday with the song "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin". After I watch the entire video, I was amazed by her vocal range. Damn, she's really good, In addition to that, she also resembles the
Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez. Is this just coincidence or is she
really the next Regine Velasquez?
Because she is a rising star, intrigues always hunts her. There are reports where she has attitude problems after winning the said contest. She is always being compared to the Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo. People requests that the two must have a showdown. But Sarah said she is not comfortable doing it because she admitted, she is not a "biritera" just like Angeline. Well, that's one of the fruits of being famous... INTRIGUES...
Here are some of her performances:
I DON'T WANT TO MISS A THING
BUKAS NA LANG KITA MAMAHALIN
I hope that once Regine Velasquez comes back after giving birth to her baby, they can have a concert together, and I'm gonna watch out for that.
Since it's my first time to have a Tuesday restday in our account, I woke up early today and check what shows are featured in the morning, I came across with Pokemon which is one of the anime' characters that I adore. So, I decided to feature them today on Childhood Nostalgia.
Pokemon
is the shortened name for "Pocket Monsters". This program talks about
courage, friendship and being strong for any struggles in order for us
to achieve our goals.
This is the story of Ash, an ordinary kid who wish to become the
"Greatest Pokemon Master". He started his quest for his dream in Pallet
Town where he got his first ever Pokemon named "Pikachu" which is also
the best known Pokemon in the world. If they Together, they faced
different types of pokemon, challenges and trainers as they visit gyms.
The main goal is to defeat the Gym Trainer so that one can obtain a
badge which will be needed in the Pokemon League Battle. They also
encountered friends along the way.
Trainers in this show also
need to collect as many Pokemon as they can. They need to train these
creatures to prepare them for battle. As the pokemon battles other types
and if they win, they level up and become stronger. This anime has a
tag line "Gotta Catch Em'All!".
Pokemon is not only in anime series but in video games. They come in different versions. They started to release the first generation versions and these include Yellow, Blue, Green and Red versions. The featured pokemons here were Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charmander respectively. They also came up with other versions and for other versions, there are other pokemons that you can use for your quest.
Why do I find them the cute? I really like the way they were drawn and
brought to life. My personal favorite would be Squirtle, a water-type
pokemon. I also like the plot of the story which is never giving up
through trials and obstacles. I also play the game quest of all versions
from the old to the current ones in my personal computer and everytime
I'm into it, I feel that I'm also doing the quest. Now, who is your
favorite Pokemon?
I'm in SM Dasmariñas yesterday only with the intention of buying things I need for everyday use like toiletries and some stuff. Since I finished early, I checked the films that are being shown in the cinemas. I found "In The Name Of Love" starring Jake Cuenca, Angel Locsin and Aga Muhlach. I heard a lot of positive feedback and reviews about this movie so I decided to enter the cinema and watch to confirm if the reviews are indeed true.
At first, I was thinking why this movie was entitled "In The Name Of Love" but at the latter part I finally understood it. The concept of the story revolved around dance, which kinda reminds me of the old movie Dirty Dancing. The moves are sensual. Kudos to Angel for doing a great job of performing pole dancing. Although she mentioned in some interviews that this is one scene that she had struggle doing, I must say that she did pretty fine. Aga's scenes and facial expressions only proves why he is one of the best in the land. Jake's performance cannot be denied as well. He did not let himself be overshadowed by the Angel and Aga.
Scenes that I liked:
-Cedes' (Angel) pole dancing.
-When Cedes is still staking on Eman (Aga) in Japan.
-When Cedes and Eman became lovers and they had quality time together.
-When Eman is auditioning as dance intructor for the Governor's Ball.
-When Eman saved the shot intended for Cedes at the Governor's Ball.
Scenes that I liked the least:
-The flashbacks are kinda confusing, although it helped me a lot understand the entire film.
-The ending, this scene seems to be flat!
If I will be given a chance to rate this movie 5 stars being the highest, my rating would be 4 stars. There are still room for improvements for this but over-all, the movie is good.
It's Mother's Day! Did you greet your moms on this day? Since we are celebrating their greatness today, I've decided to feature the best song for them today on Music Zone. This song was sung by the most famous girl group of all time, The Spice Girls. The lyrics of this song will make you understand how caring, understandable and protective our moms are. This song is "Mama". Here is the video and the lyrics:
MAMA By Spice Girls
She used to be my only enemy and never let me be free
Catching me in places that I knew I should'nt be
Every other day I crossed the line I didn't mean to be so bad
I never thought you would become the friend I never had
Back then I didn't know why
Why you were misunderstood
So now I see through your eyes
All that you did was love
Mama I love you.Mama I care
Mama I love you . Mama my friend. You're my friend
I didn't want to hear it then but I'm not ashamed to say it now
Every little thing you said and did was right for me
I had a lot of to think about, about the way I usedto be
Never had a sense of my responsibility
Back then I didn't know why
Why you were misunderstood
So now I see through your eyes, all that you did was love
Mama, I love you. Mama, I care
Mama, I love you. Mama ,my friend. You're my friend
But now I'm sure I know why,
Why you were misunderstood
So now I see through your eyes
All I can give you is love is love
Mama I love you. Mama, I care
Mama, I love you. Mama, my friend,You're my friend
Mama, I love you, Mama ,I care
Mama, I love you, Mama, my friend, You're my friend
